Just bought a medical doppler..........?

It is the type the midwives use in the hospitals. I am 9 weeks tomorrow and it should arrive tomorrow. Do you think I should try using it straight away, or wait a little while incase I don't hear anything. I've been told to look really low down by some people. I'm just worried incase its another 3 weeks till my scan. I want to know my baby's ok.
