Putting my guinea pigs together?

i need some help i have one guinea pig her name is tinkerbell and i have had for about 3 weeks now. she is still really scared of me! but last weekend i got her a friend that i named mocha they about the same size. i wanted to know when to put them together? and will it be ok to put them both in the Tinkerbell's cage?
