Can someone find me the book which tells the story about Iran?

One of the "radical right wing" talk shows spouted off about a book some time back about the religous leaders of Iran when the students there took over our emby and held American's hostage. This person claimed (in the book) the leaders were dismayed and scared that America would squash them for the "crime." They were then transformed when we (America) did not respond as they thought we were. Does anyone know of this book?
